Laurier Brantford students choose cookies or cocoa

Golden Hawks share which treat they would choose to last a lifetime

‘Twas a chilly morning on the Laurier Brantford streets,

When students were asked to pick between two treats.

Either having hot chocolate that never runs out,

Or cookies forever, without a doubt?

In the Level One Lounge in One Market, the question spread quick,

Mugs in hand at a Hawk Team event, the answers came thick.

“Hot chocolate, no contest,” Ella Johnson, first-year criminology student, said with clarity.

“It’s cozy, it’s sweet, it’s basically therapy.”

But others had different dreams in mind,

Cookies were the treasure they’d rather find.

“I’d pick cookies every single time,” Larissa Evans, second-year English student, tried to stress,

“They’re crunchy, they’re fun and you can eat them on the go. No mug, no mess.”

Some students paused to think it through,

Comparing both as if there was a case to prove.

“Hot chocolate warms the soul,” Arthmiekka Srithaswa, second-year health science student, said with pleasure.

“But cookies bring people together. You can share them, trade them, break them apart, that’s the treasure.”

Soon everyone had become a contender,

From the Odeon building to the Research and Academic Centre.

Some joked about opening their own café,

Others swore they’d start a cookie buffet.

By afternoon, no winner was found,

Just laughter and crumbs all around.

And maybe that’s the real answer, you see:

It’s not about choosing, but the company.

So next time the snow starts to fall,

And you’re walking to class, scarf and all,

Remember that warmth can come in a cup or a bite,

But the best part of winter is sharing the night.
