I’m officially at the finish line, wondering how I got here. As I look in my rear view mirror, I reminisce on the journey behind. It was not my hard work, it was not my intelligence, it was never my gifts — it was all Him. Yes, HIM! Yahweh, Yeshua, Jireh, Rohi, Him! The One who came in the form of man to die for me, Jesus Christ who I call my Saviour. He is the author of my story, making all crooked ways straight, fighting my battles an holding my hand through it all. When the odds were against me, He made it even; I call that favour at work. At the time, I couldn’t see it, so I murmured and complained.
I thought I was thrown into a dark space with no light, but now I see the light. It was never a dark space; it was a car, but I didn’t trust the chauffeur. As He drove the car in different directions, I would ask, “Are we there yet?” and He responded, “Be still and know that I am God”. I believed Him; well, I thought I did. When I got tired of waiting, I would take matters into my own hands, fighting for the wheel and demanding I know where we’re going, but that’s not how He works. Like a relationship that can’t flourish without trust, God’s plan for me needed my faith to withstand the storm. In my doubt, He was patient, He believed in me even before I knew myself. He is the lifter of my head, the one that does not let my foot strike the rock. I began to find refuge in Him; His love was wrapped in warmth like a blanket on a cold night. Yes, He moves in mysterious ways, but I soon understood that His ways are perfect and His plans are good! In my weakness, His glory is revealed; in His strength comes glory, and in Him I make my boast.
I now look to the future with hope, using my words to call forth great and mighty things. The peace that calms the storm, that’s my desire and in a world that chases the wind, my spirit will be still and know… Know that He is God, know that He is there, even in my breath, I remember it’s all about YHWH. I see a partnership that shakes the earth, one that the angels sing over, so I praise Him for the past, I praise Him for now, and I praise Him for the future. YHWH!
