It’s that time of the year again. When students begin to find their favourite study spot on campus, graduating students are starting to realize that this is the year of their lasts, the leaves start to fall, students are in their romanticizing era with the start of fall and school.
The start of the school year opens the door to many opportunities. It is almost like New Year for students, a fresh start. Use this time to join sports, start a new collection (even if it’s labubus), or become more well-rounded with the world happening around us. This is the fresh start to begin changing your life.
If you need some recommendations, our team has written some articles about study spots on campus, some great cafes around town (ours is From Scratch), and the idea of romanticizing life while we transition into fall and the new school year.
If you’re thinking about joining any sports at Laurier, you can find a list of all the sports in out Sports section produced by Laurier athletics. we have noted all the teams available at Laurier, so wether you want somehing fun and light like an intramural club sport or a full on varsity career, you can find them here!
The Sputnik is starting fresh too! We’ve moved to a magazine format that allows us to continue providing you with valuable and entertaining stories, while giving you a more visually appealing experience. The goal of this first issue was to pay homage to the classic values of the Sputnik and WLUSP, while showing you, our readers, that we are far more than just news. We offer opinions, student voices, sports updates around campus, and a creative space for designers, photographers, and artists.
With the addition of the new format, we are also moving to a bi-monthly publication. We will be around campus every other month, but we promise we are still giving you timely updates through more frequent publishing on our website! So, whether you’re a first year reading for the first time, or a fourth year who’s been reading The Sputnik for years, we hope you take time to set some goals this year. We wish you a successful and fulfilling school year, and most of all, we hope you enjoy reading the voices of your fellow golden hawks.
Have a great year!
